I express my deep gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the competition for the monument to the victims of wartime sexual violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although our team won second place, we are proud of our contribution to this important project.
Our work stemmed from a desire to create a space that reflects the strength, courage, and dignity of the survivors, while simultaneously serving as a permanent reminder of the injustice and suffering they endured.
We believe that architecture has the power to heal and to create a space for remembrance and hope. We hope that our work, as well as the winning solution, will contribute to collective memory and the fight against violence.
